Cosmetics play a role in relieving skin troubles and preventing aging, not just for dressing up. Cosmetics commercials filled with TV, the Internet, and newspapers attract consumers by using famous celebrities. It gives us the illusion that we can be like celebrities if we use this cosmetics. CoSeedBioPharm Co., Ltd. is trying to turn the fantasy into reality. It focuses on researching, developing, and producing functional materials for cosmetics, not on cosmetics itself.

The function of cosmetics changes indefinitely depending on what raw materials CoSeedBioPharm uses.

Under the motto of “A company that creates beauty with natural health,” CoSeed Bio-Farm started its business in 2006 and moved into the Osong cutting-edge medical complex in Cheongju in 2014. It was selected as INNO-BIZ (Innovative Small and Medium Business) in 2010 and received ISO 9001 and 14001 certification in the same year.

In 2016, it established the Jeju Natural Resources Research Institute. CoSeedBioPharm is working with the Jeju Natural Resources Research Institute to study native plants. It is planning to turn cosmetics materials into resources through research on homegrown plants.

It was selected as a small and strong company designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor last year, and was also designated as a promising small and medium-sized export company. He also won the Prime Minister’s Award for Distinguished Service to Develop the Materials and Parts Industry.

This year, it was selected as a youth-friendly small and women-friendly company. CoSeedBioPharm is a research-oriented company that develops cosmetics ingredients. It is developing functional cosmetics materials and researching and developing various materials such as Daeun Daechu, Jecheon Hwanggi, and Geumsan Red Ginseng as part of materialization using local specialties. Recently, it is focusing on research to find functional materials due to increased demand for cosmetics that have practical effects due to changes in consumers’ perception and expanded scope of functional cosmetics. CoSeedBioPharm holds intellectual property rights, including 57 related patents and 10 trademark registrations, and is working hard to secure intellectual property rights through continuous research. Park Sung-min (right), CEO of CoSeedBioPharm, is receiving the Prime Minister’s Award in the cosmetics industry at the 2017 Material and Parts Industry Development Merit Award last year. “Makeup ingredients containing snail mucus fed with red ginseng and their manufacturing method” is a “benefit patent” of CoSeedBioPharm, which is contracted with a global cosmetics company.

Starting with its first export in 2015, CoSeedBioPharm is about to export $2 million as of 2018. Snail mucus filtration developed for the first time by a domestic company was exported to the United States in 2017. China, Thailand and Vietnam have been steadily exporting since 2016. It recently signed an exclusive sales contract with Turkish buyers to enter the Middle East and Africa, and is pushing to branch out.

Park Sung-min, CEO of CoSeedBioPharm, said, “We have set up a site for the second plant of 4,000 pyeong (13,000㎡) in Osong 2nd Industrial Complex. It will establish a standardized plant at the international level and prepare U.S. FDA market standards. “If inter-Korean economic cooperation goes smoothly, I would like to study the plant colonies of Gaema Plateau and Baekdusan Mountain,” he said. “We aim to be listed in 2021.We will become an international-level company through transparent management through corporate listing and funding.”
